Wassili Wassiljewitsch Ziblijew ( Russian Василий Васильевич Циблиев , scientific transliteration Vasilij Vasil'evič Cibliev ; born February 20, 1954 in Privetnoje , Crimea Oblast , Russian SFSR , Soviet Union ) is a Soviet and Russian cosmonaut officer .

Life

Vasily Ziblijew is a lieutenant general in the Russian Air Force. In 1975 he graduated from the military flight school in Kharkov and in 1987 the military academy of the air forces "JA Gagarin" .

Ziblijew visited the Mir space station twice , in 1993 with Soyuz TM-17 and 1997 with Soyuz TM-25 .

After retiring from the active cosmonaut squad, he became deputy head of the flight control center, and in April 2000 he became the deputy head of the Yuri Gagarin cosmonaut training center, where he was responsible for flight and space training. In September 2003 he was appointed head of the training center. He retired on March 26, 2010, and was succeeded by Sergei Krikalev .

Ziblijew is married and has two children.
