history

Wattenweiler was first mentioned in 1178 when the Ministerial Arnold von Wattenweiler, with the consent of his master, Count Otto von Kirchberg, donated two and a half hooves in Hartberg to Wettenhausen Abbey . Around the middle of the 14th century, the lords of Gerenberg are partly owners of the fiefdom of Wattenweiler, which they soon leave to the Edelstetten monastery . On October 26, 1469, Duke Siegmund Klaus Besserer of Ulm transferred the castle in Wattenweiler with all its people and goods as free property.

In 1493, the provost Ludwig of Wettenhausen Monastery bought the two villages of Wattenweiler and Höselhurst with a church set from the heirs of Klaus Besserer . In the course of secularization , the village fell to Bavaria in 1803 and was added to the Günzburg district court .

On May 1, 1978, the previously independent municipality of Wattenweiler was incorporated into the municipality of Neuburg an der Kammel with the district of Höselhurst , which was incorporated on January 1, 1926 .
