Waukon is a small town (with the status of City ) and the administrative seat of Allamakee County in the far northeast of the US -amerikanischen state of Iowa . At the 2010 census , Waukon had 3,897 inhabitants.

Waukon lies at 43 ° 16'8 "north latitude and 91 ° 28'45" west longitude and extends over 7.6 km², which consists exclusively of land. The city is 19 miles south of the Minnesota border . The west bank of the Mississippi River , which forms the border with Wisconsin , is also about 30 km east of Waukon.

Neighboring towns are Ludlow (12.5 km southwest), Decorah (28.7 km west), Hanover (12.5 km north-northwest), Church (16.3 km northeast), Elon (13 km east), Rossville (14.2 km km southeast) and Postville (26.8 south-southwest).
