Webb City is a city in Jasper County in the US state of Missouri . According to the 2010 census , it had a population of 10,996 in an area of ​​22,352 km².

history

First referred to as Webb City, the place was named in September 1875. It was named after John C. Webb, who founded a farm there in 1857 and found lead in 1873 while plowing . The surrounding area turns out to be rich in zinc and lead and has been referred to as the Tri-State Mining District with the neighboring communities in Kansas and Oklahoma . In 1879 it was connected to the railway network from St. Louis to San Francisco , which, together with the establishment of mines, led to an economic upswing.
