Naming and venues
The Weber Cup was named after the American bowling legend Dick Weber .
From 2005 to 2015 the Weber Cup was held at the Barnsley Metrodome , a spacious sports and entertainment complex in the English city of Barnsley . In 2016 the Weber Cup took place in Event City , an event center in Manchester . In 2017 the Weber Cup returned to Barnsley. In 2018 the tournament was held for the first time in the Arena MK in the English city of Milton Keynes . In 2019, the tournament was held for the first time not in Europe, but in the USA in the Mandalay Bay hotel and casino complex in Las Vegas . In 2020 the Weber Cup will take place for the first time in the Morningside Arena in Leicester , England , the originally planned date (June 5 to 7, 2020) has been postponed to October 23 to 25, 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic . A bowling alley with spectator stands and structures for television broadcasting will be provided especially for the tournament .
Tournament mode
The tournament will be played over three days, from Friday to Sunday. The two teams each consist of 5 players (1 captain and 4 players) who compete against each other in the three disciplines singles, doubles and teams (called Baker Match ). In the years 2000 to 2006, a total of 35 matches were played during the tournament, so that the team that had first achieved 18 points emerged as the winner. From 2007 to 2015 the number of matches was reduced to 33, so that 17 points were enough for a win. From 2016 to 2018 the game mode "Best of 37", in 2019 "Best of 35" was used again.
Results
Each of the two teams has been able to record 10 victories in the previous 20 meetings since 2000.
