history

The thick walls of the tower speak for the fortified church . At first the church only had the defensive tower with vaults with a wooden extension. It is known that the tower was raised in 1509 and was given the baroque shape with a hood in 1759 . In the south the tower still has an oculus and a loopholes .

With the opening of the educational institution in the village in 1844 a new nave was added on the west side. Then the old wooden church was torn down.

The baroque winged altar was sold for 36 Thaler in 1842 and is now in the Erfurt Angermuseum .

The altarpiece was painted by the drawing teacher Friedrich Unger in the Romanesque Nazarene style and depicts Jesus in the midst of children. The church has been heavily influenced by the school. One even speaks of the school church. The coloring took place in 1921. It was renewed in 1994.
