The White Wall ( 2717 m slm , Italian Croda Bianca ) is a summit in the massive ridge between the Tristenspitze ( 2716 m slm ) in the southeast and Schaflahnernock ( 2703 m slm ) in the northeast. It forms the highest point in the entire Mühlwalder Ridge, which is part of the Zillertal Alps and separates the Mühlwalder Valley in the southwest from the Weißenbachtal in the northeast.
On the map issued by the Istituto Geografico Militare (IGM), a point in the area a little northwest of the summit is incorrectly named Croda Bianca and given an altitude of 2666 m slm . The actual peak is not shown on this map. This bug was carried over to other cards.
In the southeast of the White Wall, about one kilometer away, there is a summit in front of the Mühlwald ridge in the west, the Schreckwand ( 2508 m slm , Italian Croda della Paura ).
Alpinism
Since the Mühlwalder Ridge drops steeply on both sides in the area of the White Wall, the summit is normally climbed over the ridge from the Schaflahnernock. From this one descends over its southwest ridge into a saddle between the two peaks. From there it is usually on the ridge or in the flank near the ridge in the direction of the summit, with cairns and trail tracks making orientation easier. Depending on the route chosen, there are some light but fragile rocks to climb over ( UIAA I – II ). It takes about 1–1¼ hours from the Schaflahnernock, which in turn can be reached in 1–1¼ hours from the Chemnitzer Hütte in the Nevesjoch.
Through the south face of the Schreckwand, southeast of the white wall, there are three secured climbing routes with difficulty levels from UIAA V to UIAA VI +, the wall height is 100 meters. These climbing routes in limestone are comparable to climbing routes in the Dolomites . The entrance is relatively easy to reach from Lappach .
