Wei Qingguang
Wei Qingguang ( Chinese 韋 晴 光 / 韦 晴 光 , Pinyin Wéi Qíngguāng , Japanese reading I Seikō ) later Iseki Seikō ( Japanese 偉 関 晴 光 ; born July 2, 1962 in Nanning (China)) is a table tennis player who previously worked for China and plays for Japan today. He is world champion and Olympic champion in doubles.
successes
Wei Qingguang is left-handed. At the national Chinese championships he won singles, mixed and with the team in 1984, a year later in doubles and mixed.
Wei Qingguang usually played doubles with compatriot Chen Longcan . Between 1987 and 2001, Wei Qingguang took part in six world championships . He competed for China at four World Cups, but was only used in the individual competitions. In 1987 he became world champion in doubles, in 1989 they reached the semi-finals, where they were beaten by Roßkopf / Fetzner . In 1988 he was nominated for the Summer Olympics. He won the gold medal in doubles with Chen Longcan.
In May 1991 he moved from China to Japan. From 1998 he started under Japanese nationality and took the name Iseki Seiko . In 1999 he became the Japanese national champion. He started for Japan at the 2000 Summer Olympics and the 2000 and 2001 World Championships.
