The Weissemme , also Wiss Emme , Wissemme and Wissämme , is the 9.1 km long left source river of the Kleine Emme in the Swiss canton of Lucerne . It flows through the upper Entlebuch along the southeastern edge of the Napf area and the northern slope of the Beichlen and merges with the Waldemme at Schüpfheim . In the upper reaches, the Weissemme is also called Ballebach or Ballenbach .
Names
The river is mentioned as Wÿss Emmen in 1489, 1596, around 1600 and 1608 . This was followed by Wisëmen in the 16th century, Wisämen 1635, Wÿss Ämen 1637, Wÿsämen 1650, again Wÿss Emmen in 1680 and Weissemmen and Weissemen in 1782 . The upper course name Ballebach, also Ballenbach, was mentioned as Blapech and in 1635 as Blatbach .

The Weissemme rises on the southwest slope of the Altegrat at 1135 m above sea level. M. a little above the Ballenbach farm in the Safertwang area in the municipality of Escholzmatt-Marbach . The source is right on the border with the municipality of Trub in the canton of Bern on the watershed between Aare and Reuss .
It initially flows southeast through a side valley before entering the Entlebuch at Escholzmatt . It curves to the northeast and shortly afterwards takes up the Hasenbach near Feldmoos . After the confluence of the Aebnitbach from the right, the upper water channel of the Lehn sawmill branches off on the left bank, which was built in the 1st half of the 17th century and is classified as worthy of protection. It flows into the Eschengrabenbach from the right and immediately afterwards the underwater of the sawmill from the left. The Weissemme picks up the Bocken from the left before crossing the municipal boundary to Schüpfheim . In Chnübelbrugg the branches Old Weissemme (also Blattenbach) from which the Sagewäldli opens into the Kleine Emme, while at Weissemme since the 1940s bath together with the flows Waldemme.
Catchment area
The catchment area of the Weissemme measures 29.19 km², of which 57.6% is agricultural area, 37.4% wooded area , 3.5% settlement area, 1.1% unproductive area and 0.3% water area.
The highest point of the catchment area is 1763 m above sea level. M. at the Beichlen, the average altitude is 993 m above sea level. M. and the mean annual precipitation is 1584.06 mm.
