The Wel ( Russian Вель ) is a left tributary of the Waga in the Arkhangelsk Oblast in north-western Russia .
The Wel has its origin in a swamp area south of the urban-type settlement Konosha . From there it flows in a northeastern direction, later turning to the southeast. Ernimmt near the village of Bolshaya Gora the two right tributaries Wottschiza and Tawrenga on. It then flows to the northeast. It passes the settlement of Solginski and turns to the northwest and maintains the direction of flow until the confluence with the Podjuga . It now changes its direction to north, then to east and finally to south-east. It flows past the place Ust-Schonoscha and flows into the Waga in the city of Welsk .
The river has a length of 223 km and a catchment area of 5390 km². The mean discharge at the Balamutovskaya gauge 32 km above the mouth is 44 m³ / s (according to other sources 47.7 m³ / s). The river was used for rafting , at least earlier .
