World Heritage in Belize

For Rentals in Belize belongs (as of 2016), a UNESCO World Heritage Site of World Natural Heritage. Belize ratified the World Heritage Convention in 1990. The only World Heritage site to date was included in the World Heritage List in 1996, and it is also on the Red List of World Heritage in Danger .

1996 N 764 The barrier reef of Belize is the longest barrier reef in the northern hemisphere and illustrates the evolutionary history of the reef development with its protected components. It is also an important habitat for threatened species. Due to coral bleaching and increasing deforestation of mangroves, the site was on the red list of endangered world heritage between 2009 and 2018.

Tentative list

The sites that are intended for nomination for inclusion in the World Heritage List are entered in the tentative list . Currently (2016) there are no sites on the Belize tentative list. A previously registered site has already been included in the world heritage.
