World Heritage in Honduras
The World Heritage in Honduras (as of 2016) includes two UNESCO World Heritage Sites , including a World Heritage Site and a World Natural Heritage Site. Honduras ratified the World Heritage Convention in 1979, and the first World Heritage site was added to the World Heritage List in 1980. The last World Heritage site to date was registered in 1982, and one site is on the Red List of World Heritage in Danger .

196 | The Río Plátano biosphere reserve is one of the few remaining tropical rainforests in Central America . The reserve extends over approximately 5,000 km² and extends from the Caribbean coast up to 1,326 m. On the one hand it has a rich flora and fauna.
However, illegal logging, slash and burn , increasing pressure from agriculture, a planned hydropower plant and inadequate management endanger the forests and in 2011 led to the biosphere reserve being put on the list of endangered world heritage. |

Current World Heritage candidates
Currently (2019) one site is entered in the tentative list of Honduras. It is an extension of an existing world heritage.
