World Heritage in Panama

The world heritage in Panama (as of 2016) includes five UNESCO world heritage sites , including two world cultural heritage sites and three world natural heritage sites. Panama ratified the World Heritage Convention in 1978, and the first World Heritage site was added to the World Heritage List in 1980. The last World Heritage site to date was registered in 2005, and one site is on the Red List of World Heritage in Danger .

World heritage sites

The following table lists the UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Panama in chronological order according to the year of their inclusion on the World Heritage List (K - cultural heritage, N - natural heritage, K / N - mixed, (R) - on the Red List of World Heritage in Danger ).

The world heritage site has been on the red list since 2012, as environmental factors, poor maintenance and uncontrollable urban development threaten the fortifications.

Panamá Viejo Archaeological Site and Historic District of Panama City
Panamá Viejo Archaeological Site and Historic District of Panama City 1997 K 790 Ruined city of Panamá Viejo ( Lage ), the oldest Spanish city founding on the Pacific coast and the historic city center of its successor settlement Panama City ( Lage ).

Due to the construction of a viaduct that could affect the old town, a change in the boundaries of the world heritage site has been on the tentative list since 2015 (Ref. 5970 )

The sites that are intended for nomination for inclusion in the World Heritage List are entered in the tentative list . Currently (2017) nnn sites are entered in the tentative list of Panama, the last entry was in 2017. The following table lists the sites in chronological order according to the year of their inclusion in the tentative list.
