Welyka Kostromka ( Ukrainian Велика Костромка ; Russian Великая Костромка Velikaja Kostromka ) is a village with 2550 inhabitants in central Ukraine in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast .
history
The village was founded in the second half of the 18th century as Kostromske (Ukrainian: Костромське ). Since 1789 the village was officially named Kostriwka (Ukrainian Кострівка ). In 1896 the village had 908 households and 5218 residents. From August 17, 1941 to February 26, 1944, the village was occupied by Wehrmacht troops. The German attack aircraft and an officer of the Armed Forces Hans-Ulrich Rudel was during this time in the village and described it in his book Stuka pilot as "a typical Russian village, with all the advantages and disadvantages that result from it."

Welyka Kostromka is the only village in the 118.38 km² district of the same name and is 9 km southeast of the city center of Zelenodolsk in the south of the Apostolowe district . The municipality borders on Kherson Oblast in the south . The Zelenodolsk reservoir is 3 km west of the village . The Rajonzentrum Apostolowe is 16 km north of the village and Marjanske at the Kachowka reservoir can be reached after 29 km via the N 23 road .
