The Apostolowe Raion ( Ukrainian Апостолівський район ; Russian Апостоловский район Apostolowski rajon ) is an administrative unit in central Ukraine within the Dnipropetrovsk Oblast . Apostolowe Rajon was founded in 1923. It has an area of 1,380 km² and a population of 57,468 inhabitants (December 2012). The population density is 42 inhabitants per km².
The administrative seat is the city of Apostolowe , which is 175 km southwest of the Oblast capital Dnipro , 45 km northwest of Kryvyi Rih and 65 km east of Nikopol .
geography
The Rajon bordered to the west by the Rajon Schyroke , on the north by the Kryvyi Rih Raion and Rajon Sofijiwka , to the east by Rajon Nikopol and the town of Pokrov , in the southeast on the for kakhovka reservoir dammed Dnepr and on the south by the Kherson Oblast with the Novoworonzowka and Vysokopillja districts .
The Basawluk , a 157 km long tributary of the Dnieper and its tributary, the 88 km long Kamjanka, flows through the Rajon . The entire length of the Dnepr-Krywyj-Rih Canal runs through the Rajon and connects the Kachowka reservoir near Marjanske with the town of Krywyj Rih for the purpose of drinking water supply .
The total agricultural area is 133,000 ha , 114,000 ha of which are arable land.
geology
In terms of mineral resources, the Rajon has deposits of manganese , bauxite , clay , iron ore , quartz , lignite , granite and limestone . The granite deposits amount to more than 70 million m³.
climate
The Rajon has a temperate continental climate with relatively cold winters and hot summers. The annual average temperature is between 7 and 9 ° C. The coldest month is January with an average temperature of −4 to 6 ° C. The warmest month is July with temperatures between 21 and 23 ° C on average. The sunny days are on average 240 per year. The annual rainfall averages 400 to 480 mm, 2/3 of which falls in the warm season. In the summer, dry south-east winds dominate, which often lead to considerable damage in agriculture. Apostolove Raion is one of the driest regions in Dnepropetrovsk Oblast.
