The dniprovskyi district ( Ukrainian Дніпровський район Dniprowskyj rayon ; Russian Днепровский район Dneprowski rayon ) is a 1965 founded management unit within the oblast Dnipropetrowsk in the center of Ukraine . Until May 19, 2016, the area was called Dnipropetrovsk Raion (Ukrainian Дніпропетровський район / Dnipropetrowskyj rajon ) and was then renamed as part of the decommunization of Ukraine analogous to the eponymous capital of the Raion in Dnipro Raion.
The Rajon has an area of 1430 km² and a population of about 85,000 inhabitants (November 2013). The population density is 59 inhabitants per km².
The administrative seat of the Rajon is the city of Dnipro , which is not itself part of the Rajon. The regional council is located in the urban-type Sloboschanske settlement . The largest town in the Rajons is the town of Pidhorodne, 15 km north of Dnipro, with about 19,000 inhabitants.
geography
The Rajon is located in the center of the Dnipropetrovsk Oblast and encloses the city of Dnipro. It borders in the northwest on the Raion Petrykivka , in the north on a short distance on the Raion Mahdalyniwka and the Raion and the city of Novomoskovsk . In the east it borders on Synelnykowe Rajon, in the south on Solone Rajon and in the west on Krynichky Rajon and the city of Kamjanske . The Dnepr is the largest river in the Rajon. Other rivers that flow through the Rajon are the Oril , the Samara and the 138 km long Mokra Sura . The Ramsar area of the Dnepr-Oril floodplains is located at the mouth of the Oril and the Dnepr .

At the communal level, the Rajon is divided into a city, two settlement councils and 14 district councils, each of which is subordinate to individual localities.
