Obuchiwka ( Ukrainian Обухівка ; Russian Обуховка Obuchowka ) is an urban-type settlement in the center of Ukraine with 9200 inhabitants (2015).
The place (named after the Cossack Andrei Obuch ), first mentioned in 1648 as Obuchowka / Obuchiwka ( Обухівка ), received the status of an urban Tys settlement in 1938. In 1938 the village was renamed after the Soviet state and party official Sergei Kirov in Kirovsk (Ukrainian Кіровське ; Russian Кировское Kirovskoye ), on May 19, 2016, the place was renamed back to its old name Obuchiwka in the course of decommunization in Ukraine .
geography
Obuchiwka is in the Dnipro district , in the oblast of the same name at the mouth of the Oril and the Dnieper . The municipality borders in the west on the 3,766 hectare Ramsar area of the Dnepr-Oril nature reserve and in the east on the city of Dnipro , to whose agglomeration it belongs.
In addition to Obuchiwka, the settlement council also includes the village Horjaniwske (Ukrainian Горянівське ) ⊙ .
