The history of Meschowa began in 1884 with the construction of the Meschowa train station. From October 14, 1941 to September 10, 1943 the area was occupied by the German Wehrmacht . The town has had the status of an urban-type settlement since 1957 after the merger of the villages of Grigoryevka, Kamjanka and Novoslowjanka.
