Lychivka ( Ukrainian Лихівка ; Russian Лиховка Lichowka ) is an urban-type settlement in the central Ukrainian Dnipropetrovsk Oblast with 2000 inhabitants (2016).
geography
The village is located on the Omelnyk (Ukrainian Омельник ), a tributary of the Dnieper , in the north of the Pyatychatky Rajons . The district center of Pyatychatky is located 50 km southwest and the nearest town and train station Vilnohirsk is 27 km south of the settlement.
The village of Komunariwka ( Комунарівка ) ⊙ with 421 inhabitants (2012) and the village of Stepowe ( Степове ) ⊙ with 38 inhabitants (2012) also belong to the Lychivka settlement council . The area of the municipality is 146.7598 km². With a total population of 2519 (2012) people in the municipality, this results in a population density of 17 inhabitants per km².
history
Around 1740 a settlement of the Zaporozhian Cossacks was established , which was called Omelnyk , after the river flowing through the place , until the 1830s . In 1754 the local church was consecrated. In 1932 and 1933, the place was hit by the Holodomor , a major famine in Ukraine. From August 17, 1941 to October 17, 1943 the village was occupied by the German Wehrmacht . The municipal council was established in 1918 and since October 24, 1957 Lychivka has had the status of an urban-type settlement.
