history
Pershotavensk is one of the youngest cities in Dnepropetrovsk Oblast. The history of the town is inextricably linked with the development of mining in the "Western Donets Basin " coal area. Founded as a small mining settlement, the city grew with the use of new coal mines "Western Donbass number 1 and 2". The first stone for the construction of Pershotavensk, which until 1960 was called Shakhtarske / Shakhtyorske, was laid in May 1954. On May 6, 1960 Shakhtarske became an urban-type settlement of Pershotravensk. Since 1989, Pershotavensk has been a city of regional importance (urban district).
religion
Pershotavensk is a unique case in Ukraine, as it is the first city where the Evangelical Church has more followers than the Orthodox Church. The number of Protestants in the city is up to 1000 people. The city is the Ukrainian center of the Evangelical Church "New Generation".
