Mahdalyniwka ( Ukrainian Магдалинівка ; Russian Магдалиновка Magdalinowka ) is an urban-type settlement in the Ukrainian Dnipropetrovsk Oblast with about 6300 inhabitants (2018). The settlement is the administrative center of the Rajon of the same name .

geography

The place is located 55 km north of the Dnipro Oblast center on the Chaplynka River .

The local community also includes the villages Dubrawka ( Дубравка ) with about 230 inhabitants and Radjanske ( Радянське ) with about 470 inhabitants.

history

Mahdalyniwka was first mentioned in 1783. From September 26, 1941 to September 23, 1943, the village was occupied by Wehrmacht troops. The place has had the status of an urban-type settlement since 1958.

Mahdalynivka Raion, administered from Mahdalynivka , was founded in 1925. It is located in the north of the Dnipropetrovsk Oblast and borders in the northwest on the Poltava Oblast and in the northeast on the Kharkiv Oblast . The Rajon has an area of ​​1,599 km² and a population of 34,752 inhabitants, of whom 6,500 live in urban-type settlements and 28,252 in villages and settlements (December 2012). The population density of the Rajon is 22 inhabitants per km².
