Wendy Chamberlin
Wendy Jean Chamberlin (born October 12, 1948 in Bethesda , Maryland ) is an American diplomat .
She held various posts and was, among other things, envoy at the embassy in Kuala Lumpur , Malaysia , US ambassador to Laos (1996–1999) and Pakistan (2001–2002), and from February to June 2005 in a temporary capacity as the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees , after Ruud Lubbers resigned.
She is currently President of the Middle East Institute .
