Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? was the Swiss version of the British quiz show Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? which aired on TV3 in 2000 and 2001 and was seen on 3+ in 2011 .
First broadcast on TV3 (2000-2001)
The one-hour program was broadcast twice a week from March 27, 2000 until the end of broadcasting in 2001 by the private broadcaster TV3 and moderated by René Rindlisbacher , a Swiss presenter and cabaret artist. In each episode, ten candidates had the chance to win one million Swiss francs by answering 15 questions . As in the German version at that time, the candidate could use the well-known three jokers - 50:50, telephone and public jokers - in Switzerland.
The show had a completely new intro that was neither based on the German nor the English. Until the 10th edition (October 2, 2000) the logo was in an orange circle, after which it contained green question marks , just like the English logo . The graphic elements were initially in black with white letters, from episode 22 (January 10, 2001) in dark blue with white letters. The studio design was based on the British version and, in contrast to the German and Austrian programs, had no sliding door, but a blue background with a central, slightly raised spotlight, which was pointed head-on at the center of the studio during the game. On the studio ceiling there was also a circular traverse with 12 spotlights that illuminated the studio and the glass floor in bright colors.
Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? - couples
For half a year - from episode 53 (April 30, 2001) to episode 84 (October 31, 2001) - TV3 shortened the broadcasting time of the regular program to half an hour, but also included pair programs in the program, with two players each answered questions together. The condition was that it had to be the spouse or life partner. Otherwise the regulations showed no differences to the normal broadcast.
Celebrity specials
TV3 organized a total of three celebrity specials. While the profit tree was still based on the regular amounts for the first celebrity special in spring 2001, the profit tree from the end of 2001 had significantly reduced profit amounts - probably due to the tense economic situation of the station.

production
All TV3 editions were produced in the TV studio 5a of tpc , a subsidiary of SRG , in Zurich Seebach . Directed by Paul Fischer, the show was produced by Hannes Bichsel / B&B Endemol Shine .
Resumption of production by 3+ (2011)
From November 29, 2011, the quiz show was again broadcast in Switzerland by the private broadcaster 3+ in three programs. Claudio Zuccolini presented the show as moderator . Instead of ten candidates, only five candidates competed against each other in the preliminary round. The 50:50 and telephone jokers as well as the new “Council of the Wise” joker were available as jokers. In addition, there was a choice between the normal variant and the risk variant, in which the second security level was eliminated, but the candidate can swap a question for it.
The new edition was produced in the same studio as the German and Austrian edition Millionenshow in Hürth near Cologne. The intro and the overlays corresponded to the current international standard. The new logo differed only marginally from the one used in Germany. After only three broadcasts, the show was canceled again, the reason for the high costs.
