Werner Danckert
Werner Danckert (born June 22, 1900 in Erfurt , † March 5, 1970 in Krefeld ) was a German folk song researcher.
After graduating from high school in 1917, Danckert trained as a concert pianist. He completed a degree in musicology with a minor in philosophy and physics . In 1923 he received his doctorate summa cum laude in Erlangen ; the habilitation followed in 1926 at the University of Jena .
In 1937 Danckert became a member of the NSDAP and professor at the Weimar Academy of Music . Was Danckert staff headquarters music in the Rosenberg office . At the Reichsmusiktage in Düsseldorf in 1938 he gave a lecture on ethnicity, tribal type, race in the light of ethnicity research . In 1939 he published the book The oldest traces of Germanic folk music . In 1943, as successor to Herbert Birtner, he received a chair in Graz and an adjunct professorship in Berlin.
After the end of the Second World War he did not return to any university, but published other books on folk music and other musical topics.
