Werner Eichhorn (Sinologist)

Werner Eichhorn (born July 1, 1899 in the Forsthaus Theuern , Duchy of Saxony-Meiningen ; † January 30, 1990 in Mössingen ) was a German sinologist .

Life

Eichhorn completed his habilitation in Bonn in 1937. He was a lecturer in Göttingen , Frankfurt, Oxford , London and Vienna .

After the Second World War he worked at the University of London .

Since 1960 he has been a professor at the Eberhard-Karls-Universität Tübingen and made a name for himself with works such as the Cultural History of China (1964), The Religions of China (1973) and The Ancient Chinese Religion and State Cults (1976).
