Werner Hoffmann (March 1, 1926 - February 17, 1997 ) was a German photographer .

Life

Werner Hoffmann was a founding member of the "Friends of Photography" formed in 1957 in the Kulturbund of the GDR . This group later called itself "Photo Circle" or "Photo Active" and had its meeting point in the " Hans Marchwitza " culture house of the Oelsnitz / Erzgebirge coal works . Werner Hoffmann directed this photo active until 1973. He was also a member of the Oelsnitz local management of the Kulturbund and an employee of the photography district commission in Stollberg / Erzgeb. and the district photo active in Karl-Marx-Stadt . In addition, he enriched u. a. as a member of the editorial board of the journal Der Heimatfreund for the Erzgebirge with photographs of this series of issues , which today still exists as the Erzgebirgische Heimatblätter . In addition, many of his black / white and color photographs were sold as postcards by the publishing house Bild und Heimat in Reichenbach in the Vogtland .

Some of his recordings were also included in the Volumes Values ​​of Home .

Through his photographic work he decisively determined the cultural and political “face” of the Ore Mountains .
