Werner Meier (athlete)

Werner Meier (born May 31, 1949 ) is a former Swiss medium and long-distance runner .

At the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich, he was eliminated over 1500 m in the preliminary run. In 1975 he was seventh over the same distance at the European Athletics Indoor Championships in Katowice .

In 1983 he was third in the Berlin Marathon , in 1984 he won the Barcelona Marathon , and in 1986 he was third in the Vienna Spring Marathon .

At the World Cross Country Championships in 1977 in Düsseldorf he came in 48th, 1979 in Limerick 165, 1983 in Gateshead 199 and 1985 in Lisbon 221.

In 1972 and 1974 he was Swiss champion over 1500 m, 1979 over 10,000 m , 1981 and 1984 in 25 km road race , 1983 in marathon and 1975 in cross country .
