Werner Ratering

Werner Ratering (born July 13, 1954 in Bentheim ; † November 12, 2017 ) was a German artist specializing in stone carving and graphics.

After training as a typesetter , he studied at the Münster University of Applied Sciences, department of design, and at the Münster Art Academy . From the 1970s he worked as a sculptor and freelance artist. Ratering lived in the community of Tempelhof Castle near Kreßberg . Before that, he lived and worked for over 20 years at the moated castle Haus Stapel in Havixbeck near Münster in Westphalia .

His works in public space include fountain sculptures in Langenhagen (1990) (art in the building of the Robert Koch School), Höingen (1994) and Emsdetten (1996), sculptures as part of " art in building " in the Rheine financial construction office (1982) and in the town hall of Garbsen (1998). In 1988 he erected the sculpture "backward-looking" in Schüttorf .
