Werner T. Bauer

Werner Thomas Bauer (* 1958 in Vienna ) is an Austrian ethnologist , documentary filmmaker and scientific author. He is a research assistant at the Austrian Society for Policy Advice and Policy Development .

Life

Bauer attended the Lycée Français de Vienne and then studied ethnology and oriental studies at the University of Vienna . 1985 followed the doctorate to Dr. phil. He then worked as a freelance journalist and scientist. In 1987 he was the organizer of the “Days of Ethnological Films” in the Filmhaus Stöbergasse in Vienna and took part in the exhibition “Safranbolu - a market in Turkey” at the Museum of Ethnology in Vienna. In 1998 he became an education officer at the Afro-Asiatic Institute (AAI) in Vienna. Farmer was u. a. involved in the excavations in Limyra (Turkey). From 1991 he appeared as a director ofDocumentaries .

Since 2003 he has been a research assistant at the Austrian Society for Policy Advice and Policy Development (ÖGPP) in Vienna. His main areas of work are: "International politics, urban development, migration research, social and cultural policy". Together with Lilli Bauer, he is also the curator of the permanent exhibition “ Das Rote Wien im Waschsalon Karl-Marx-Hof ” and editor of the web lexicon of the Viennese social democracy (dasrotewien.at).

Bauer published several scientific articles. In 2010 he created the expert report “Right-wing populism in Europe: ephemeral phenomenon or on the way to political mainstream?” For the SPD-affiliated Friedrich Ebert Foundation , which he presented in the appropriate framework and took part in a panel discussion. In 2013 he gave a lecture on “Anti-capitalism and criticism of globalization from the right - successful concepts for the extreme right?” At the symposium “Boundless: The international dimension of right-wing extremism. Networking - Strategies - Countermeasures ”by the Petra Kelly Foundation, close to the Greens .
