Werner Zuberbühler

Werner Zuberbühler (born March 7, 1872 in Herisau ; † May 4, 1942 in Locarno ; resident in Herisau) was a Swiss educator from the canton of Appenzell Ausserrhoden .

Life

Werner Zuberbühler was a son of Johannes Zuberbühler, teacher, and Katharina Barbara Fitze. In 1906 he married Helena Frei, widow of Wilhelm Alexander Frei , daughter of Anton August Lansel. In 1888 he attended the teachers ' college in Rorschach and in 1889 the teachers' college in Küsnacht . From 1890 to 1895 he was a teacher in Zurich . From 1893 to 1895 he studied at the University of Zurich, obtaining a doctorate as Dr. phil. Around 1900 Zuberbühler attended the New School Abbotsholme in Uttoxeter , Shaffordshire, England , by Cecil Reddie . From 1901 to 1902 he worked in the Haubinda Landerziehungsheim , Thuringia, with Hermann Lietz . In 1902, Wilhelm Alexander Frei and Werner Zuberbühler opened the Swiss Rural Education Center in Glarisegg , which Zuberbühler ran from 1904 to 1936. The two reform pedagogues strived for a natural upbringing that included the balance of body, mind and soul. Zuberbühler was a member of the Libertas and the Guttempler -Loge Steckborn .
