Vershazi ( Ukrainian Вершаці ; Russian Вершацы Vershazy ) is a village in the southeast of the Ukrainian Cherkassy Oblast with about 850 inhabitants (2001).

Until the mid-17th century the village was called Nesteriwka ( Нестерівка ) and with the founding of New Serbia in the 1760s, it was the the Serbian toponym derived Vrsac, present name.

The village is located at an altitude of 135  m on the bank of the Irklij ( Ірклій ), a 26 km long right tributary of the Tyasmyn , 10 km southwest of the district center Tschyhyryn and 70 km southeast of the Oblast center Cherkassy . The territorial road T-12-17 runs 4.5 northwest of the village .

Vershazi is the administrative center of the district council of the same name in the south of Chyhyryn Raion , which also includes the village of Tarasso-Hryhoriwka ( Тарасо-Григорівка , ) with about 130 inhabitants and the settlement of Kudasheve ( Кудашеве , ) with about 60 inhabitants.

The Zyrulnykiw Forest ( Цирульників Ліс ) is located between Vershazi and the village of Tarasso-Hryhoriwka, which lies southeast on the border with Kirovohrad Oblast , through which, during the Khmelnytskyi uprising , the Cossacks Bohdan Khmelnyzkyjs on May 10th . / May 20, 1648 greg. went to the battle of Korsun .
