The Westerbach is a nearly eleven kilometers long, orographically right and geographically northern tributary of the Nidda in Hesse .

The Westerbach arises in the center of the town of Kronberg im Taunus (Im Wiesenthal / Ludwig-Sauer-Straße) from the union of the Winkelbach with the Schönberger Bach . Some see the Schönberger Bach only as a by-name of the Westerbach. The Westerbach initially crosses Kronberg in a southeastern direction. To the north of Eschborn-Niederhöchstadt it is fed by the Hohwiesenbach (also called Waldwiesenbach ). After that, the Westerbach flows through the district Niederhöchstadt and Eschborner core city and then the Frankfurt district Sossenheim to finally in Frankfurt-Rödelheim einzumünden in the Nidda.

The upper Westerbach is a coarse material rich, silicate low mountain range, and the lower Westerbach is a fine material rich, carbonate low mountain range. The catchment area of the Westerbach is 31.42 km².

- Water structure
Between Kronberg and Eschborn Mitte, the Westerbach is largely uneven. It flows through the recreational area of the Kirchwiesen leisure park (between Kronberg and Niederhöchstadt) and the Oberwiesen leisure park (between Niederhöchstadt and Eschborn); in Niederhöchstadt it flows north past the old town center. In Eschborn, the Westerbach is canalised and completely built over from Eschenplatz to the Unterwiesen amusement park .

The upper Westerbach has a saprobic index of 2 (good ecological status), its acidification index and its fauna index are rated 1 (very good ecological status).
