Westphalian Railway Museum Münster

The Westphalian Railway Museum , based in the Hansaviertel in the city of Münster , focused on the topic of depots from the 1950s. The museum was maintained by the Friends of the Railways

Many of the exhibits were still operated on the museum's own premises or during special trips after their restoration. The museum was best known for a Köf II (small locomotive with oil motor and liquid gear of performance class II) from 1948. Together with an originally restored Prussian compartment car from 1927, so-called “hamster trips” were regularly made to Enniger to the Pängel station, which has now been converted into a pub Anton undertook. The term “hamster ride” or “hamster train” was reminiscent of the first post-war years of the Second World War , when townspeople regularly took the train to the surrounding area to stock up on groceries.

The museum was closed in early 2011. The holdings were taken over by the Hamm Museumseisenbahn , with which a close cooperation had existed for years.
