White Mountain (English for "white mountain"; Inupiaq : Nasirvik ) is a town in the Nome Census Area in the south of the Seward Peninsula in western Alaska . The population was estimated to be 203 in 2016.

White Mountain is the only non-coastal settlement on the Seward Peninsula. It is located on the left bank of the Fish River 17 km above its mouth in the Golovnin lagoon . 23 km southeast is Golovin , 97 km west-southwest is the town of Nome .

86% of the population are of American Indian descent. The inhabitants live mainly from subsistence farming .

At White Mountain, the Iditarod dog sled race has a mandatory 8-hour stop on the way to Nome.
