history

Wiesbaden Volksbank building

The history of the bank begins with the founding of the Wiesbaden advance payment association in 1860, from which the later Wiesbadener Bank emerged. The establishment of the advance payment association was one of the first in the Duchy of Nassau . As early as 1893, the association had 400 members and, with a credit volume of 196,266 guilders, was by far the largest advance payment association in the duchy.

In 1863 the Wiesbadener Bank eGmbH cooperative and later Volksbank (Wiesbaden-) Biebrich were founded. The Vereinsbank Wiesbaden was founded in 1865. These three banks existed independently side by side until their mergers, whereby it should be mentioned that today's Wiesbaden-Biebrich district was a city independent of Wiesbaden until 1926 and a merger with the Biebricher Volksbank was out of the question.

The Wiesbadener Bank and the Vereinsbank Wiesbaden merged in 1969 to form the Wiesbadener Vereinsbank. In 1973 the Volksbank Wiesbaden-Biebrich merged with the Wiesbadener Vereinsbank to form the Wiesbadener Volksbank .

Further mergers took place with Volksbank Bad Schwalbach in 1988, Waren-Kreditgenossenschaft WKG 1989, Raiffeisenbank Wiesbaden 2001 as well as Raiffeisenbank (Wiesbaden-) Frauenstein 2002 and Volksbank Eltville 2009.
