The FFH area Wiesen und Heiden an Glatt and Mühlbach is a protected area (protected area identifier DE-6726-341) in the German state registered in 2005 by the Freiburg Regional Council according to Directive 92/43 / EEC (Fauna-Flora-Habitat Directive) Baden-Württemberg . The area was determined by ordinance of the Freiburg Regional Council on October 25, 2018.

The 587.5 hectare protected area belongs to the natural areas 100- Foreland of the western Swabian Alb within the natural spatial main unit 10- Swabian Keuper-Lias-Land and 122- Upper Gau within the natural spatial main unit 12- Neckar- and Tauber-Gäuplatten .

It consists of twelve sub-areas and extends over the markings of two municipalities in the Rottweil district:

  • Dornhan - 240.8823 ha = 41.0%
  • Sulz am Neckar - 346.6355 ha = 59.0%

Description and purpose of protection

The protected area includes extensive heaths, limestone grasslands and meadows in the slope areas of the Neckar tributaries Glatt and Mühlbach. In the Glatttal it also includes significant deposits of tufa springs with pronounced tuff formations.

Contiguous protected areas

The FFH area overlaps with several existing landscape protection areas as well as with the nature reserve No. 3215 Hungerbühl-Weiherwiesen . Parts of the area near Dornhan are in the Black Forest Middle / North Nature Park .
