Wilberg is a district of the town of Horn-Bad Meinberg in Lippe , North Rhine-Westphalia .

geography

The place Wilberg lies in the Werre valley between the places Schönemark , Schmedissen , Bad Meinberg and Horn . Furthermore, Hornschen Straße ( B 239 ), an important traffic route for the Lippe district, runs through the small town. From this branch off in Wilberg the Schönemarker and the Wilberger Straße as well as the Maßbruchweg to lead up the mountains on the sides of the Werre Valley. Furthermore, Wilberg is characterized by the large number of old farms and stables, some of which can look back on a 400-year history. New buildings, on the other hand, are comparatively rare. On the eastern edge of Wilberg, at the transition to Bad Meinberg, are the facilities of the Staatlich Bad Meinberger -Mineralbrunnen GmbH & Co. KG , whose sources are located above the village of Wilberg in the northern mountains at Maßbruch. The center of the place is the village square with a boulder as a memorial stone, erected in 1992 on the occasion of the 600th anniversary celebrations.

If you drive west on Hornschen Straße in the direction of Detmold , you will pass the Niedermühle zu Wilberg from 1698. In the direction of Bad Meinberg you will find the Wilberger Obermühle on the left in a depression , the construction of which is dated to 1574 in handwritten documents.

history

The first written evidence of the Wilberg settlement dates from 1392. The name Wilberg can be traced back to the family of the Lords of Wilberge from Rhaetian Switzerland, whose first tribal leader is said to have called himself Wilebert . The Wilberg family is still based in the village today.

On January 1, 1970, the Wilberg district of the municipality of Schönermark was incorporated into the new municipality of Bad Meinberg-Horn according to the Detmold Act . This was renamed Horn-Bad Meinberg on September 10, 1970 .
