Wilbraham is a city in Hampden County , Massachusetts , United States , and a suburb of Springfield, Massachusetts . In 2000 the city had 13,473 inhabitants.
history
Together with today's Hampden (Massachusetts) , the place was first settled in 1731 as a district of Springfield. With a population of about 400 people, he was granted the status of the independent parish of Wilbraham in 1763 .
Downtown Wilbraham is one of the largest designated historical areas in the country, with well-preserved Colonial and Victorian- style buildings along the main street dating back to the 1730s. The oldest Methodist prayer house in New England and one of the fifteen oldest schools on the US East Coast, the Wilbraham & Monson Academy from 1804 can also be found in the city center.

Wilbraham is now the headquarters of the ice cream company founded in Springfield, MA in 1935 and the Friendly’s restaurant chain, which has over 500 restaurants in 16 states on the east coast of the United States .
