Wild Frontier is a German melodic rock band from near Kassel . The name is derived from the 1987 LP Wild Frontier by Gary Moore .

Band history

The band was founded in 1990 by Jens Walkenhorst (vocals, guitar), Mario Erdmann (bass), Markus Koch (keyboard) and Markus Linne (drums). With this line-up, the tapes Rocktown City , Days of Innocence and Downtown Dreamers were created until 1992 . Detlef Hönig then joined as the second guitarist , bassist Mario Erdmann resigned for health reasons, and Alfons Steier became his successor. The band got on to their first television appearance .

The first CD was recorded in the Dust Music Studio in Hilchenbach under the direction of SLCoe (ex-lead singer of Metalformation Scanner). Appearances in Germany and Hungary followed , including at Germany's largest biker meeting in Schleiz with Alvin Lee . Shortly afterwards, Markus Linne got out and Rudi Uhe took over the drums . Mario Erdmann returned to bass and Alfons Steier switched to keyboards .

In 1996 the band recorded the CD I'll give you all my love . Due to the success, the band sang the CD Walkenhorst with German lyrics, but could not achieve a breakthrough. Detlef Hönig and Alfons Steier got out, but Thomas Vitt came on guitar . Numerous concerts followed , including with Sinner, Axxis , Ten, Millennium, Alvin Lee, Paddy Goes To Holyhead , Manfred Mann , Guildo Horn .

At the end of 1997 the CD Thousand Miles Away was recorded by Peter Waldhelm and released worldwide.

In 1999 the band played with the baritone Ivo Berkenbusch at the Chancellor Festival in Berlin . At the Brandenburg Gate, they celebrated their songs with Italian lyrics and classical singing. A mini CD was recorded and a video produced. The concert was broadcast live in several countries.

For the soccer club KSV Hessen Kassel they wrote the club anthem Now even more, now or never , which was produced and recorded with the fans. Then the drummer Rudi Uhe left the band and was replaced by Jörg Schmeck.

On December 14, 2002, the new album Stick your neck out was presented in the Manhattan discotheque in Homberg / Efze and released in early 2003. With the American Melodicmailorder NEH Records, the album entered the sales charts at number 22.

In February 2004 the guitarist Thomas Vitt got out. Substitute Thorsten Geis left the band after five concerts, whereupon Jens Walkenhorst took over the entire guitar work. In addition, Thomas Ellenberger strengthened the band as a keyboardist. In February 2005 Jörg Schmeck resigned and was replaced by Sebastian Gröning.

In the summer of 2005, the band began recording the album Bite the Bullet , which was presented in December 2006 and distributed worldwide from February 2007. In 2008 Stefan Gröning replaced his brother Sebastian on drums, and concerts followed, including with Suzi Quatro .

In 2009 a new song was created for the football club KSV Hessen Kassel with the title Here comes the KSV , which was offered for free download on the Internet.

In 2012 the band released their fifth album, titled 2012 . Stefan Gröning was replaced on drums by Sascha Fahrenbach. A few weeks later, he was replaced by his brother Nico and switched to guitar. Two music video clips were produced. A clip was filmed at the fairytale castle Sababurg near Kassel . The album in 2012 rose to number 38 on the Japanese import charts and was also able to achieve good sales figures in the USA.

In December 2012, the best-of album 1994–2012 was released

Several concerts will follow in March 2014. Among other things, the band plays in Olomouc in the Czech Republic. In October 2015, the band's 25th anniversary was celebrated in Wabern in the multi-purpose hall. The new album Alive 25 , which consists of an audio live CD and a DVD, was also presented. The DVD is created by Andreas Strippel and his team. The album will be released in January 2015.

In March 2016 there will be a concert with almost all former band members. Songs from every era from the respective line up are played.

After the concert, Nico Fahrenbach says goodbye to the band. He is replaced by Sascha Fahrenbach on drums. The guitar is by Tony Vitora. accepted.
