The Huetstock or Wild Geissberg is a 2676 m above sea level. M. high mountain between the Melchtal and the Engelbergertal in Switzerland . It is located in the Uri Alps on the canton border between Obwalden and Nidwalden .
Surroundings
Neighboring mountains are the Nünalphorn and the Rotsandnollen , which with the Huetstock belong to the subgroup of the Eastern Melchtal Alps , which rise between the Melchaa and the Engelberger Aa . On the other hand, they are also counted among the Unterwaldner Voralpen and thus to the Lucerne and Unterwaldner Voralpen (subsection 14.III of the SOIUSA classification).
Together with the Widderfeld Stock , the Nünalphorn and the Barglen , the Huetstock forms the panorama of the Melchtalerberge , as can be seen from the canton capital Sarnen and from Flüeli-Ranft .
fauna
A colony of ibex lives on the Huetstock . The stock was just over 150 in each of the years 2009 to 2011 and then fell. In 2013 and 2014 it was around 90 each. The Huetstock area is protected as one of the 41 federal hunting areas.
