Assignment

View of Flüeli-Ranft, in the background the Melchtal Mountains, from left to right : Widderfeld Stock, Nünalphorn , Huetstock and Barglen

The Widderfeld Stock belongs to the Unterwaldner Voralpen and thus to the Lucerne and Unterwaldner Voralpen (subsection 14.III of the SOIUSA classification). Widderfeldstock summit cross

geography

The mountain is part of a long ridge that runs from the Stanserhorn to the Jochpass . The actual summit consists of a curved ridge where the highest point can hardly be made out. However, it is marked with a small brick summit pyramid. To the north is the Widderfeld Stock by the Storeggpass (1741 m) from Gräfimattstand , the south by the Bocki-Rotsand (2,205 m) from the slightly higher Nünalphorn separately.

To the southwest of the summit ridge are the slopes of Alp Widderfeld with the alpine hut at 2257  m above sea level. M. This makes it one of the highest alps. Alp Gruobi is a little below at 2024  m above sea level. M. There a memorial stone reminds us that on October 14th, 1899 poachers from Nidwalden shot two game rangers in the exercise of their duty.
