Wilfred Belmont "Tex" White (born June 26, 1900 in Hillsburgh , Ontario , † December 2, 1948 in Port Colborne , Ontario) was a Canadian ice hockey player who, during his active career between 1923 and 1932, among other things, 207 games for the Pittsburgh Pirates , New York Americans and Philadelphia Quakers in the National Hockey League on the right winger position .
Career
White played during his junior years until 1920 in the Toronto area for the youth teams Barrie Canoe Club and Toronto Canoe Club . With the latter, he won the second edition of the Memorial Cup in 1920 . He then worked for three years until 1923 for the Dunnville Dunnies in the amateur field.
At the request of his friend Lionel Conacher , the striker joined the Pittsburgh Yellow Jackets in 1923 , which were extremely successful in the United States Amateur Hockey Association . After he had been there until the summer of 1925 in service, he was hired as a free agent by the Pittsburgh Pirates from the National Hockey League and thus switched to the professional camp. Overall, White was part of the team in all five years of its existence, only interrupted by a 13-game loan to league rivals New York Americans in the 1928/29 season . In the 1929/30 season , the attacker was back in the Pirates' squad, but also played for the New Haven Eagles in the Canadian-American Hockey League .
For the 1930/31 season , the Pittsburgh Pirates franchise was relocated and played as the Philadelphia Quakers in the NHL. After nine games, the Quakers separated from their right winger and sold him - as did Rodger Smith - to the Pittsburgh Yellow Jackets, which were now part of the International Hockey League . The Quakers had to make room in the squad after the short-term engagements of D'Arcy Coulson and Eddie McCalmon . White ended his career with the Yellow Jackets in 1932.
White died on December 2, 1948 in Port Colborne in the Canadian province of Ontario .
