Wilfried Feldenkirchen

Wilfried Paul Feldenkirchen (born October 25, 1947 in Cologne ; † June 21, 2010 in Hinterzarten ) was a German economic historian and university professor .

Life

Wilfried Feldenkirchen studied history, English and economics at the University of Bonn . In 1974 he was awarded the title of Dr. phil. PhD. In 1980 he completed his habilitation with a study of the iron and steel industry in the Ruhr area from 1879 to 1914. In 1982, Feldenkirchen was awarded the Heinz Maier-Leibnitz Prize . In 1985 he became an adjunct professor at the University of Bonn and was director of the university's international office from 1985 to 1990 . In 1989/1990 he held a professorship at the University of Saarland and in 1990 was appointed to the chair for economic, social and corporate history at the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg . In 1990 he published the memoirs of Werner von Siemens , in 1992 he published his biography; he worked on the encyclopedia of German history . The focus of his academic work was on the economic history of the 19th and 20th centuries, the history of banks and savings banks and the history of agricultural policy. A particular focus of research was the history of large companies such as Siemens , Daimler , the Society for Consumer Research and Henkel .

Feldenkirchen was a Rotarian member (Rotary Club Euskirchen-Burgfey).

Feldenkirchen died in an accident in 2010 during a test drive with a replica of the Electric Victoria , which was built under his project management by a coachbuilder from Hinterzarten and exhibited by Siemens at the 2010 Expo .
