Wilfried Werz

Wilfried Werz (born November 27, 1930 in Dresden ; † August 14, 2014 in Glienicke / Nordbahn near Berlin) was a German stage and costume designer .

From 1940 to 1949 he attended the German High School for Boys in Dresden-Plauen . After studying at the Dresden Art School, he worked from 1965 as head of equipment at the German State Opera in Berlin . From 1976 to 1995 he was the company's chief set designer. Since 1979 he has been an honorary professor and full professor at the art academies in Berlin-Weissensee and Dresden. In retirement he devoted himself to free landscape painting.

He lived in Glienicke / Nordbahn .

Wilfried Werz was married to Isolde Werz, longtime solo harpist and chamber virtuoso at the Komische Oper Berlin.

Children: Tilman Werz and Anna-Sophia Werz
