Wilhelm August Le Beau

Wilhelm August Le Beau (* July 2, 1820 in Rastatt ; † October 14, 1896 in Baden-Baden ) was a colonel from Baden , later a royal Prussian major general and most recently worked in the Prussian War Ministry.

His parents were the Baden colonel Philipp Le Beau (* July 12, 1790, † February 25, 1850) and his wife Henriette Peterson.

Life

He attended the Lyceum in Rastatt and the Polytechnic in Karlsruhe . After his graduation he went on April 1, 1837 as a musketeer in the Baden Infantry Regiment No. 3 Margrave Wilhelm . There he was promoted to portepeef ensign on April 26, 1838 and to lieutenant on February 26, 1840. In 1843 he was assigned to the fortress construction department in Rastatt. There he was appointed Premier Lieutenant on August 24, 1844. On June 18, 1852, he was transferred as a captain to Infantry Regiment No. 2 Prince of Prussia . Promoted to major on February 16, 1861, he joined the Baden War Ministry on May 9, 1862 as an adjutant. During the German War , he returned to the War Ministry on June 5, 1866, as a lieutenant colonel, where he became head of the economic department. On June 30, 1869 he was promoted to colonel. After the Franco-Prussian War , the German Empire was founded . The Baden army was thus integrated into the Prussian army . Le Beau switched to the Prussian army and was aggregated into the War Ministry . On January 21, 1872, he received the Order of the Red Eagle, 4th class, and on May 16, 1873, the Oak Leaves to the Commander's Cross, 2nd Class, to the Baden Order of the Zähringer Lion. On December 6, 1873, he was put up for disposal with the character of major general . He died on October 14, 1896 and was buried in the city cemetery in Baden-Baden.

Le Beau married Karoline Barack (* 1828 - 17 February 1900) on February 10, 1849, a daughter of the government councilor Michael Barack († April 9, 1863) and sister of the poet Max Barack . They had a daughter, the pianist and composer Luise Adolpha Le Beau (born April 25, 1850, † July 17, 1927).
