Wilhelm Czermak (physician)

Wilhelm Czermak , also Čermák (born October 2, 1856 in Brno , South Moravia , † November 9, 1906 in Lans (Tyrol) ) was an Austrian ophthalmologist and university professor .

Life

Czermak was the son of Joseph Czermak . He studied medicine at the University of Graz and after completing his studies initially worked as an assistant and then as a secondary doctor at the university's eye clinic. After moving to the University of Vienna , he completed his habilitation there. In 1892 he followed the call as professor and director of the eye clinic at the University of Innsbruck . In 1895 he moved to the Karl Ferdinand University in the same position , where he stayed until his death. Czermak was a member of the Corps Teutonia Graz (1883) and Saxonia Vienna (1899).

Czermak was married to the daughter of the legal scholar Leopold Pfaff . His son was the Egyptologist Wilhelm Czermak .
