In the upper right field, surrounded by a wreath of oak leaves on a silver background, the founding year 1863 is shown in black, as well as the date October 28th in Roman numerals. In the lower left field are two crossed thugs in the corps colors, with the golden initials of the weapon saying G (gladius), U (ultor), N (noster) on a silver background in the spaces in between. In the lower right field there is a knight holding up a banner in the Corps colors (in the background the Grazer Schloßberg). The heart shield in the middle shows the circle in gold on a white-blue background.

history

Blue cartel: Athesia Innsbruck , Saxonia Wien , Teutonia Graz, Austria
Two colors (1868–1872)

When the medical faculty of the Karl-Franzens-Universität was founded, members of the Pennal Corps Cheruscia and the Corps Saxonia Vienna founded the Teutonia connection on October 28, 1863. It introduced unconditional satisfaction in February 1864 and closed the until April 17, 1864 today (again) existing cartel with Saxonia Vienna. On February 25, 1866, Teutonia declared itself an academic corps, whose example Saxonia immediately followed.

kk times

In the summer semester of 1868 the colors were changed to blue-white-red. On December 17, 1874, Teutonia participated in the founding of the Association of Corps at Austrian Universities (VCÖH). On May 5, 1875, it was officially dissolved because of the demonstrations against Alfonso Carlos de Borbón . The reconstitution on October 30, 1875 took place under the name Cimbria with the colors white-blue-gold. The old name Teutonia was adopted again on June 1, 1876. On December 8th of the same year, the federal government was dissolved again because of scalings . As a replacement, Juvaria was founded on January 9, 1877 ; however, the name Teutonia could already be adopted again in February.

After the VCÖH had dissolved on March 24, 1877, Teutonia participated on March 29, 1877 in the founding of the Congress of Austrian Corps (CÖC); because of the disputes between the academic and technical corps, Teutonia left the CÖC in the summer semester of 1877. From December 14 to 21, 1878, Teutonia was suspended. Teutonia rejoined the CÖC on May 31, 1879 and remained a member until its dissolution on April 25, 1887. It suspended again on November 5, 1891.

After only six years the cartel with the Corps Athesia Innsbruck broke up and with it the big blue cartel, consisting of Teutonia, Saxonia Wien, Athesia and Austria Prague , whereby a cartel between Teutonia and Austria Prague never came into being.

Kösener Corps

After the First World War , an old gentlemen's meeting on October 27, 1919 rejected the reconstitution of the corps; a written vote decided otherwise. Reactivated old men and Joanneers released for it reconstituted Teutonia on March 3, 1920 in the SC zu Graz. This also included membership in the KSCV. In 1922 the cartel was renewed with Saxonia Wien. Austria became increasingly radicalized during the First Republic .

After the dissolution of the KSCV on September 28, 1935, the Austrian Corps remained together in the Working Group of Austrian Corps (AGÖC). On January 21, 1938 Teutonia took the last assets of Landsmannschaft Viruna . The AGÖC disbanded five days after the annexation of Austria . Teutonia suspended on May 18, 1938.

The general police dissolution of all corporations took place on August 24, 1938, before all old gentlemen's associations were liquidated on August 29, 1938. Teutonia, Joannea, Vandalia and Viruna looked after the "Wilhelm Gustloff" comradeship since 1938 .

New beginning

In World War II, many Teutons had fallen. It was not until 1951 that Teutonia was able to reconstitute Teutonia under the name Grazer Studentenklub Teutonia . On November 15, 1952, a friendship relationship was transformed into a cartel with the Erz Corps , which broke up again in 1978.

In 1969 Teutonia Graz was the presiding corps in the suburb of the KSCV .

Active operations had to be suspended for the last time from 1986 to 1988. The reconstitution took place again with the help of active Joanneers.

Probably the biggest milestone in the recent history of the corps was achieved with the purchase of today's corps house and the associated grand opening on December 14, 2002. The Akad. Corps Teutonia zu Graz celebrated its 150th anniversary in the 2013 summer semester in the splendid premises of the Grazer Minoritensäle and looks back on a long history steeped in tradition in which one has always remained true to oneself.

Corp house

Teutonia's corp house

Today's Teutonenhaus in Klosterwiesgasse 9 (near Jakominiplatz) was opened on December 14, 2002 on the occasion of the Christmas bar. It now replaced the old Corps premises in Neutorgasse. The Teutonenhaus, which greets you from a distance with its white-blue-gold flag, has various lounges for celebrations, a library for learning purposes and sports facilities for physical exercise and leisure activities in addition to the Corps' pub facilities.

At the Corpshaus it is also possible to offer students living space in 14 comfortable Garçonnièren in the city center close to the various universities.

External relations

The Academic Corps Teutonia zu Graz is an independent corps in the KSCV . With Saxonia Wien, it has maintained a cartel since 1864, which is the oldest cartel still in existence in Austria, shaped by numerous Saxons from the time Teutonia was founded. To celebrate the 110th Foundation Festival of Teutonia, an interview with the Corps Palatia Munich was concluded in May 1973 , which was upgraded to a friendship relationship in 1993. In January 1997 an introductory relationship with the Corps Borussia Halle was concluded, which resulted in a friendship relationship in May 2003.
