The Corps Normannia-Halle is a student union in Giessen that has always stood for the scale and color. Founded in Halle in 1846, like all connections it had to be suspended during the Nazi era. Normannia was reconstituted in Erlangen in 1951 and moved to Gießen in 1961.
history
At the instigation of Transylvanian Saxony , Normannia was donated to the Friedrichs University in Halle in 1846 as an uncovered progress connection Normannia. Donors were the students Voss, Gerhard, Wernicke, Krüger, Fischer, Schade, Dörr, Gause, Schwarz and Gersteck. Paragraph 1 of the original statutes reads: "The Normans have joined one another in order to maintain their freedom, to preserve honor and to enjoy the joys of company." The following verse is passed down on the meaning of the colors:
Blue as loyalty, be the mark of the brothers .
As pure as the gold is the spirit that glows through us ,
And that we never deviate from the path of honor
Be know the ribbon that draws our breasts .
There had already been a rapprochement with the Halle Seniors' Convent since the summer semester of 1870 by agreeing a joint Paukcomment with the SC and abandoning the "principle of chastity" in the winter semester of 1872/1873. The motto is freedom, honor, loyalty . At the end of the 19th century, Normannia had several two-band men with Borussia Tübingen , Hercynia Göttingen and Baltia Königsberg . Normannia renounced the SC zu Halle on December 11, 1875 and was reciprocated on February 2, 1876 . Since then, the corps has been part of the Kosen Seniors Convent Association . The federal government was then suspended from May 6, 1876 to the beginning of the winter semester 1876/77, from April 20, 1887 to July 27, 1888, from May 16 to July 28, 1890, and since January 26, 1899 due to a lack of young people.
Legacy of ADB and RSC
The Academic Stenographers Association Halle was founded on June 29, 1885 with the colors moss green-white-pink. On January 20, 1890, he changed into the black connection Suevia with absolute satisfaction . On February 19, 1893, he put on couleur with a moss-green cap and suspended on July 2, 1885.Suevia was reconstituted as a fraternity on April 12, 1904 and was rehearsing on January 15, 1905 and finally on June 11, 1905 in the Allgemeine Deutsche Burschenbund ( ADB). White strikers were worn since the summer semester of 1905 . Suevia founded Arminia on May 14, 1906 as a subsidiary. This resigned on March 4, 1910 in Suevia. Suevia became effective on March 19, 1910 from the ADB and led on 16 April 1910 the Bestimmungsmensur one. She renounced since April 22, 1913 in the Rudolstädter Senioren-Convent (RSC) and merged on May 8, 1913 with Cimbria to Suevo-Cimbria with the colors of the Cimbria blue-gold-black. She was reciprocated on June 6, 1914, and suspended on February 21, 1920. On the same day, Normannia was renewed, taking in the active members of Suevo-Cimbria. The fox colors have been changed to blue-gold-blue. Some old men of the Suevo-Cimbria became corps bow bearers of the Normannia on July 8, 1920 .
Magdeburg district
Before 1925 January 15, 1846 was recognized by the KSCV as a foundation day. In the 1920s some Transylvanian Saxons became active again, u. a. Georg Tartler . With the Corps Vandalia Berlin , Budissa and Makaria Würzburg , Normannia founded the Magdeburger Kreis on October 23, 1927.
Nazi era
Under the pressure of the egalitarian National Socialism , Normannia had to suspend like all corps again in 1935. With Borussia Halle , Guestphalia Halle , Palaiomarchia , Saxonia Halle and Teutonia, Normannia looked after the comradeship with the final name "Gustav Nachtigal" after 1938 .
New start in Erlangen and Gießen
With the help of her friends Makaria Guestphalia , Normannia was able to reconstitute in 1951 at the Erlangen Senior Citizens' Convention . She moved to the Justus Liebig University in Gießen in 1961 and has been in the Gießen Seniors' Convent ever since .
Corp houses
The decision to build an own corp house was made during the festival convention on the occasion of the 50th foundation festival in 1896. However, the construction of a corp house did not take place for the time being, as the corps had to suspend with a resolution of January 26, 1899 due to a lack of young people. It was not until February 27, 1920 that Normannia was able to reconstitute and resume active operations with the help of the RSC Corps Suevo-Cimbria. On the occasion of the 75th Foundation Festival in 1921, the Association of Old Halle Normans was founded. At that time, Normannia moved into the house that had recently been acquired by Suevo-Cimbria. The corp house at Wettiner Strasse 28 (today Karl Liebknecht-Strasse) was bought in 1927.
