Wilhelm Hehlmann

Wilhelm Hermann Hehlmann (born October 23, 1901 in Magdeburg , † December 23, 1997 in Weinheim ) was a German educator and psychologist .

Life

The carpenter's son went to school in Magdeburg. After the First World War , he trained as a primary school teacher in Delitzsch . In 1922 he began studying philosophy and pedagogy at the University of Halle , where he received his doctorate in 1927 and habilitated in 1930 . Then Hehlmann taught as a private lecturer.

After the handover of power to the National Socialists , he became a member of the NSDAP in 1933 and subsequently also joined the NSKK , the NS-teachers' association and the NSDDB . At the NSDDB he became head of office in 1934. In 1938 he was a member of the party official examination commission for the protection of National Socialist literature . In 1939, Hehlmann finally became associate professor in Halle and deputy head lecturer. In the same year he worked as a lecturer at the educational seminar of the Adolf Hitler School in Sonthofen . During the Second World War in 1940 he was employed as a Wehrmacht psychologist in the Air Force in the Dresden area.

After the end of the war, Hehlmann was removed from his chair. From 1948 he worked as a scientific advisor for the publishing house FA Brockhaus and was editor-in-chief of the 17th edition of the Brockhaus encyclopedia from 1965 to 1970 .

Hehlmann himself worked as a specialist author over the years. His dictionaries on psychology and pedagogy in particular have been widely used up to the present day. The latter was reworked by Winfried Böhm .
