Wilhelm Heinrich (engineer)

Wilhelm Heinrich (born June 2, 1882 in Cranz near Hamburg , † October 2, 1944 in Soest ) was a German civil engineer and railway manager.

Life

The son of the court owner Peter Heinrich and Katharina Quast obtained the Abitur at the secondary school in front of the Holstentor in Hamburg. He then studied civil engineering at the Technical University of Hanover . In 1902 he became a member of the Corps Hannovera Hannover . In 1908 he passed the main diploma examination as a civil engineer with a focus on trams, railroad and tunnel construction. He then became a government construction manager at the Altona Railway Directorate and in 1912 a government master builder for the railway sector .

In 1913 he left the state railway service and became deputy director and in 1915 director and board member of AG Ruhr-Lippe-Kleinbahnen . Heinrich spun off the quarry operations as an independent Steinwerke company from the Ruhr-Lippe-Kleinbahnen AG under the umbrella of the parent company and created a vehicle operation department to supplement the railway network . Through extensive planning, he prepared the conversion of the company's rail network to standard gauge and carried out large parts of this work. The technical improvement of the systems and the modernization of the train operations were also due to him.

Henry was still deputy board member of the Association of German Transport authorities in Berlin , member of the Superintendent Association of German private railways and light railways and board member of the motor transport AG Westfalen in Dortmund. He belonged to the city council of Soest .

His marriage to Melanie Kramer had three sons.

He was killed in an aerial bomb attack in Soest on October 2, 1944.
